The Health Benefits of Banana

This Post is very Personal to me and is dedicated to my Father. Who had a Banana every morning for 70 Years of his 97 years of life. I am convinced that this habit contributed to his long, healthy life. Fortunately most of the wider family also follow his habit-  GOD BLESS”

1. Nutrients : Banana is a fruit laden with Nutrients like Potassium, Calcium, Manganese, Magnesium, Iron, Foliate, Niacin, Riboflavin and be which contribute to the proper functioning of the body and helps in achieving Homeostasis of the body.

2. High Fibre content : Banana is filled with both Soluble and Insoluble fibre which makes it a Gut-healthy food. So it is good for the heart and can lower the risk of both Cardiovascular and Coronary Heart disease.

3. Potassium : Bananas are a potassium rich food which offsets the effect of sodium in raising your blood pressure. They lower the risk of stroke and heart attacks. It also benefits the kidneys and bones, thus preventing both Kidney Stones and Osteoporosis respectively.

4. Energy Booster : Bananas give instant energy. The natural sugar in it balanced with soluble fiber give slow, stable energy release
when eaten half an hour before or immediately after a workout.

5. Constipation : Eating a couple of bananas are infinitely better than taking a laxative for constipation due to their high fiber Content.

6. Stomach Ulcers : Bananas, eaten regularly protect against stomach ulcers by thickening the protective mucous barrier in the stomach, preventing damage from Hydrochloric Acid.

7. Heartburn : Bananas help balance the stomach’s PH, and the fiber content moves food through the digestive tract faster, preventing reflux.

8. Weight-loss or Weight-gain : It is a misconception that bananas are fattening. One medium sized banana contains about 105 calories, and a lot of fiber. Fiber makes you feel full for longer, which helps you eat fewer calories, and hence does not cause weight gain.

9. Bananas and Diabetes: Bananas can be eaten safely, in moderation, by diabetics. This is because bananas have a low Glycemic load (i.e. Measure of a food’s impact on blood sugar)
